President’s Welcome

Gareth Millar, President of Malone RFC
Gareth Millar, President

It is a tremendous honour and privilege to serve as President of Malone Rugby Football Club this season.

Malone has been part of my life since I first came through the gates as a six-year-old. From minis and youth rugby through to the senior game, the club has given me lifelong friendships and some of my fondest memories.

Growing up, Malone always felt like our place — somewhere we wanted to be, where we belonged, and where we watched the senior teams hoping that one day we might wear the Malone jersey ourselves.

That sense of belonging is something I hope we continue to create for the generations coming. From our minis, youth and girls’ rugby through to mixed ability, women’s and men’s adult rugby, everyone has a part to play in making Malone what it is.

To our coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters and Executive Committee, thank you for everything you contribute. I would also like to recognise our sponsors, whose continued support of Malone is hugely valued.

Today, I extend a warm welcome to Alex and everyone visiting Gibson Park from Banbridge RFC. Congratulations on your centenary year — a fantastic milestone for the club.

To Josh, the wider coaching team and our senior squad, I wish you every success as we begin our AIL campaign. The new 2B North format should make for an exciting season, with plenty of Ulster derbies to look forward to. I hope everyone connected with Malone gets behind the team today and throughout the campaign.

Finally, whether you are playing, coaching, volunteering, supporting from the touchline or simply calling into Gibson Park on a Saturday afternoon — this is your club.

I wish everyone involved with Malone a successful and enjoyable season ahead.

Gareth Millar
President
